Emanuela, our former student, now Ryanair cabin crew

Emanuela came to our How to be Cabin Crew Academy with a dream, that dream of becoming FLIGHT ATTENDANT. Said and done, she’s now part of the Ryanair’s cabin crew team.  Written down is her beuatiful aviation story so ENJOY your reading!

  • Who is Emanuela and how would you describe her if you were her best friend?

Good question… I would say she is a simple but ambitious girl. A hard-working girl, but who should have more confidence in herself because she has achieved many wonderful things.

  • How did you activate the “microbe” of flight in you? How and where did this happen? How did you come to dream of a job in the clouds?

During high school I dreamed  about pursuing a career as a flight attendant, but I wasn’t convinced that it was the right job for me, but I decided to give it a try. I think the “microbe” was fully activated the moment I put on the uniform and I understood that I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else now but in the clouds.

  • How did you go from desire to action? What steps did you take to get this job?

I was unsure what steps to take when a friend told me about your Academy course and I decided to take part in it, which turned out to be very helpful. After that, I followed the classic path: interview, training and trial period. It sounds easy, but it took a lot of discipline and work to get here.

  •    How many airline interviews did you attend before you were victorious?

I consider myself lucky as I attended only one interview and I was selected from the first one.

  • How did the interview with Ryanair airline go? What did you think was the most difficult part of the interview? How did you manage to get through everything and overcome your emotions?

The Ryanair interview consisted of a company presentation, followed by an individual interview and an English test. I found it most difficult to answer the recruiter’s questions because I wanted to make a good impression, but I didn’t want to get overwhelmed by my emotions and get stuck. I think the way I managed to calm myself down was thinking that this is the first time I’m going through such an experience and that as long as I give my best, I won’t regret anything.

  • Why do you think the recruiters chose you? Which quality mattered the most?

To be honest, I can’t say exactly how I managed to get noticed, but I like to think it was simply my way of being, acting as naturally as possible. I’m a sensitive person and I tried to turn this into a quality, not a flaw, which I think made the recruiters see that I really wanted to be part of the aviation world.

  • What advice would you give to How to be Cabin Crew readers who want to follow your example and work as flight attendants?

My advice would be to try to attend interviews even if they feel they may not be as good as other candidates because they might even surprise themselves. Of course, in addition to self-confidence, you also need work and seriousness, but also a gram of humor to overcome the more difficult periods.

  • A message for the How to be Cabin Crew team 🙂

Keep doing what you’re doing, because you’re doing it well! Your advice, care and guidance have been a real help to me and I hope you have many other students who make you proud of what you do because you deserve it!
