Good luck to all !

I attended the last Qatar Airways interview? When can I apply again?

This is the question we receive almost daily from you. What do you do if at failed the last Qatar Airways interview and now you want to apply again? Do you have to wait for 6 months or not?

Usually, Qatar Airways does not apply the famous “6 months rule” used by the Arabic airline companies such as Emirates or Etihad Airways. This rules says that if you failed an interview with these airlines you are banned from applying again for 6 months.

At Qatar Airways this rule of 6 months does NOT apply. This means that you can reapply anytime, if you didn’t succeed on the first time.

By example, it happened that Qatar Airways came to recruit in a certain weekend in one city in Italu and the following weekend in another city. We had students that went to the recruitment day in Rome, and didn’t pass the CV drop, but the next weekend went to Milan and managed to reach the final interview.

You can go in any country that you prefer for an interview. We had students that passed the final interview in Sofia, München or Milan. It is up to you where do you choose to go for an interview and what you think it suits you best.

I will give a hint: in Germany there arențy so many candidates for the Cabin Crew position. In addition, the English language is a strong point in this country. You can be lucky and go for an interview in Germany and see that, despite other coutries in Europe such as Italy, Serbia or Romania, where the applications are around some hundreds, there the competition to be maximum 20-40 persons. It can be a plus for you.

Therefore, there is NO 6 months rule at Qatar Airways. You can go anytime, the important thing is to be very well prepared, to have confidence in yourself and a pinch of luck.

Fingers crossed!

Interview process at Etihad Airways

One of our How to be Cabin Crew students who managed to reach the final interview and now is a happy Flight Attendant for Etihad Airways, told us how the recruitment day passed, step by step, and how she interacted with the recruiters the entire day.

Stages of Etihad Airways interview

The interview from Etihad Airways was one of the pleasant one’s from those at which I participated till now( I participated at Qatar Airways and Emirates interview) and I do not say this only because I managed to reach the final interview, but because the recruiters were extremely nice. They were 5 recruiters, 4 women, including a Romanian, named Valentina, and a French guy, Nicholas all dressed in Etihad Airways uniform (they were so ravishing). We were around 150 candidates present at the Assessment Day!

The day started the same as at Qatar Airways and Emirates interviews, we gave out our CV with the passport photo and they asked us one or two questions. I gave my CV to the French interviewer and he asked me what I am working at the moment, if I like what I am doing and why I have chosen Etihad Airways. Then next the reach test followed, touching the 210 cm limit, and I passed with no problems. We gathered all around and after all of us passed through the first task, the recruiters told us how the day will go.

The first task (or the second one, if you take in account the CV drop) was the English test, multiple choice, very easy from my perspective. Then followed the task where we received a question and we had to answer to it, probably they wanted to test our spontaneity. My question was very easily: What superpower would you like to have?. Nice, right? Other examples are: If you were a president what law would you change? or With which feminine character in history would you want to have dinner?. After the questions, they put us a movie to watch, about the town and the company, presented by Valentina and Nicholas. They were very funny, made jokes, asked questions, and of course, responded to our curiosities.

Next there was a break around 40 minutes and then followed by the first eliminations. They called some names, mine was among them and they asked us to take our stuff and to leave the room. We were the successful ones. I think after the eliminations we remained around 50. The next step was the group task, where we were divided into groups of 6 persons and each group had a supervisor, different from the one who asked us questions at the first task, so each candidate managed to be evaluated by all the recruiters. At this task, was the best moment to put in practice what I studied at How to be Cabin Crew course, I put in practice the recommended steps and that was how I successfully passed it. For the final interview, we remained only 30 persons, 12 had to take the interview the same day and the rest were scheduled the next day, me as well. I chose to have the interview the next day because I was extremely tired.

About the final interview, I don’t know what to say. Discussing with other girls I noticed that I was the only one with almost no working experience, this thing got me discouraged. Probably, I was the youngest one from the group. The interview duration was short, like 10 minutes. They asked me typical questions at which, probably, everybody responded almost the same: What it’s your opinion about the fact that you have to share an apartment with the other girls or what is your opinion about being relocated? The recruiters were very nice, one of them, I think her name was Elizabeth, wrote what I was saying, and Nicholas asked me questions.

In conclusion, everything worked smoothly over all, but I think that you need also a lot of luck to be a cabin crew. It matters much what is your mood that they, to detach yourself from everything, and never let yourself down if you are rejected.

Good luck, hope to see you among the clouds!

Qatar Airways cabin crew

Interview process at Qatar Airways

One of the students who attended our course, How to be Cabin Crew, reached the final interview and told us, step by step, how each task went and what the attitude of the recruiters was, the entire interview.

Qatar Airways Tasks

“The recruiting started around 9 o’clock AM, as they announced in the precedent day at the moment we submitted our CV. There were 2 recruiters, very friendly, one from Malaysia and one from Poland. They let us enter the room and each of us was called individually to receive a sticker with the number we had at the Assessment and our names, then they explained how the day will go, what tasks we will have and so on.

1. English test

The day started with the first task, the English test, a relatively simple one. It was composed of 3 exercises (the first- we had to read a text then to answer to some questions, the second was a grammar exercise where we had to choose the right answer, and the last one was a text where we had to fill in the missing words). On the side of this exercises we also had to write an essay, on different themes like: the etic at the workplace, what are our qualities and so on.

2. Reach test + picking a note

The English test was followed by a 45 minutes break and then we were called back in the room where the recruiters called the names of the ones who did not pass the first task. They weren’t that many, around 10-15. Then followed the next task were we had to go, each of us, in a different room where we did the reach test and then they asked us if we have any birth marks or tattoos. After that, the recruiters told us to pick a note from the table (some had to choose between geometrical forms, others had colors). I had to choose a color from the ones that appeared on the note. Another round of eliminations followed after this task, but the reason for it I think nobody understood. The recruiters said that this elimination will be based on our CV, on the English knowledge and the first impression. What was true or not of this, I do not know.

3. Public speaking task

After the last elimination we remained around 55-60 persons (maximum) who got to the next step. Initially, they said that it would be a group task, but after the break it appeared they had changed their minds.
When we entered the room, after the break, they told us that because we remained that many it would be impossible for them to do the group task, so they changed it and we had to choose another ticket and to speak in front of the room (at the microphone) about the theme written on the note. The themes were different for each of us (some examples: How do you transmit your good disposition to the people around you? If you had any superpower, what would that be and why? What was the most embarrassing moment in your life? What was your biggest achievement till know? )

4. Final interview

After the third task we remained around 40 persons who managed to reach the final interview. Before the final interview the recruiters presented the company, how is life in Qatar, they gave us some documents to fill in, and then one by one we went to the final interview. This lasted around 10 minutes each, time in which the recruiters looked over our documents, we filled in what was missing and that was all. From which I understood, some of us had to answer some questions about customer service, from their experience. I didn’t receive any question. That was how the day passed, the recruitment day being finished around 10 PM.”

These were the Qatar Airways tasks at the interview in Bucharest, an interview that lasted more than 12 hours for the candidates that managed to be selected for the final interview. The speaking task in front of the other candidates, on the microphone, confirmed once again the crucial importance of knowing the techniques of public speaking by the candidates, an aspect on which we put a great accent at our courses How to be Cabin Crew. A future cabin crew needs to know how to speak and argue freely in front of an audience, to not have emotions when he/she give a speech and manage to control his/hers body language in those moments.

*the whole interview happened in English

We hope that this information will be useful for the next Qatar Airways recruitment and I hope you fulfill your dreams to fly, as quickly as possible. Do not forget that information means power and preparation is essential before any interview.

My Emirates interview experience

One of our How to be Cabin Crew students who is now working for Emirates described her experience at the interview and the stages she passed through.

I would like to start by thanking you for your moral support and the confidence that you transmitted me during the preparation course. Even though we were so many participants the course, we left the training feeling like we were already part of a cabin crew team. We all knew: knowledge is power!

With all my self-confidence and the information I had, I still felt very nervous the first day, at CV drop. Even if in the past I went to other interviews, some of them for other airlines, nothing prepared me for the shock that I had: 300 different persons, which shared the same dream: to catch wings and fly. My anxiety started to go away as I saw my former colleagues from the course, with which I shared my emotions all day. We all tried to be the best version of ourselves, to smile more, but still be natural; to be the best, but not so competitive…This is how it all started. After waiting in the conference room for about 45 minutes for the invitation, they presented us the way in which the CV drop will take place.

While we were waiting to drop our CV (along with a big smile), friendships started to bond. I was so sad seeing that after the first stage we remained only 121 candidates. After a few hours spent alongside people who started to be more dearly to me, we saw the results, and the names highlighted (the ones who passed) were extremely few. We were expecting to be many more, as the questions asked by the recruiters were very easy: “How are you?” and “Why cabin crew?”. Looking back, I reached the conclusion that the most important thing was our natural attitude. Among those who left after this task there were extremely beautiful girls, much more beautiful than me. On the other hand, the ones who remained were not necessarily respecting the office attire or the grooming rules.

Immediately as we saw our names on the list, the recruiters went on with the presentation of the company. I appreciated that it was a realistic one, depicting the good parts of the job, but also the bad ones. They said to us from the start: “it’s not all about glamour and luxury, cause you’ll may face situations when you’ll have to clean the toilets”.

The next day we were fewer, but the tension was still there. They divided us in 3 large groups, consisting of approximately 40 persons. After we entered the room, they divided us again in two parts and each group was supervised by a recruiter. The smallest group was again divided in small groups f 3 persons. What I can say is that I understood at this task why “knowledge is power”.

After the first group exercise, the recruiters were very friendly and they gave us the results immediately. The ones who were eliminated were the ones who lost themselves when they had to speak or they were concentrating too much on their own opinion.

At the second group exercise, it was crucial the way we interacted with each other. After the reach test, they gave us a hypothetical scenario where we were working at an agency which organized cruises and because of an error in our system 10 persons could no longer be checked-in. From a list of persons: minister of transport, a newlywed couple, a granny, a travel agent and so on, we had to choose 2 lucky persons to get a place on the cruise. While we were concentrating on finding the best solution, the recruiter was watching every single gesture, our body language and the way we were expressing ourselves. In the end, they chose some candidates for a role play session. In my opinion I think they chose the ones that didn’t had any initiative and said almost nothing, trying to give them a second chance.

Afterwards we received the English test . The first was somehow complicated, for B2 level I will say. Still, despite our emotions, all the 32 candidates passed to the final step: the final interview.

The final interview was a discussion of approximately one hour with one of the recruiters. The questions were very direct, about situations we confronted at our work place. Everything was very official, but I appreciated very much that even if the recruiter wasn’t authorized to give me an advice, she told me how my photos should look like when I will send them on email, because “ the recruiters in Dubai should see how pretty you are”. After the interview was over, she thanked me, and said that I was very “bubbly” and other words that remained in my mind and gave me goose bumps: “ I hope to see you in Dubai”.

I want to thank you very much because I know that without you I wouldn’t have known how to react to each task and wouldn’t have had the chance to show the recruiters how well prepared I was.
Kisses and hope to see you again at high altitudes!”

We thank you for the story and hope to see you among the clouds!
